Inclusion and Diversity

Indigenous Round
Each year indigenous round is held to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land where we play. Any team playing at home in this round will be asked to join with their opposition in a Barefoot Circle using a special Indigenous Silk borrowed from Cricket Victoria. We recognise that the lands on which we play hold special meaning and significance to First Nations People.
Wellbeing Round
Last season we held a wellbeing month where everyone wore green stickers to signify how important wellbeing is at our Club. We also ran SALT (Sports & Life Training) sessions for our senior males on ‘Allies of Change’ education them on how we all play a role in helping reduce family violence within our community.
The club also had a SiSU Health machine at the club helping take stock of our physical health.
Movember was also a major feature of the month with the club raising almost $9K to improve mental & physical health outcomes for me.
Visit our wellbeing portal for more information.

Social Sixes
Social Sixes is an exciting cricket program specifically designed for women! It’s fun, fast and social mid-week activity. The focus of the program is activities that are designed to get the heart pumping as well as teach the skills required to play cricket.
All Abilities Blast
We are one of the few clubs in Victoria to offer an all-abilities blast program. This program allows children with special needs the ability to play cricket, being guided by enthusiastic volunteers in a wonderfully supportive environment. Burwood Cricket Club is a proud affiliate of Special Olympics Australia

The All Abilities blasters were invited last season by Cricket Victoria to play on the MCG day 2 of the Boxing Day test.

Walking Cricket
Walking Cricket is a fun, social, modified version of cricket that doesn’t involve running and uses modified equipment, played in a smaller, enclosed area. Walking cricket is a great activity to stay active – open to ages 65 years and older.
